Agreement of Rock Outdoors Collection and Use of Personal Data
Rock Outdoors is responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations concerning the Personal Data of our customers when using Lightspeed, including the Personal Data of customers. Lightspeed's role in relation to the processing of such Personal Data on behalf of Rock Outdoors is governed by the terms of Lightspeed's Data Processing Agreement. Lightspeed processes Personal Data of Rock Outdoors customers only as instructed by Rock Outdoors or in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you would either like to amend your information or no longer wish to be contacted by Rock Outdoors, please contact Rock Outdoors directly.
Technologies Used by Lightspeed
As part of our Websites and Services, Lightspeed uses various technologies such as “session” and “persistent” cookies (small data files that we transfer to your computer), log data, and third-party analytics services to collect and analyze information. Technology is, by its nature, dynamic and ever-changing; the technological tools used today by Lightspeed are therefore subject to modification and replacement in the future.
We use "persistent" cookies to recognize you each time you return to our Websites or Services. For example, we create a persistent cookie that includes some basic information about you, like your most recent search. We use this persistent cookie to remember your preferences and, if you create an account, to make your user experience consistent after you register.
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement, and gather broad demographic and geographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Sharing
We may share demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is generally not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. However, Lightspeed and/or Rock Outdoors may send E-mails or mail about special offers or other offers or information that may be of interest to the user based on the information we collect. Rock Outdoors uses an outside company (such as UPS, USPS, Fed Ex. etc.) to ship orders, and Paypal to process payments for goods and services. These companies do not to our knowledge, retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
We may partner with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
Information is requested from the user during check out when creating an account. Here a user must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). We use PayPal to process our customer's payments. Their privacy policy can be viewed here: Privacy Policy This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customer's orders. If Rock Outdoors has trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user. All customer information obtained via the order form is encrypted for security purposes and stored on a secured server.
This web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the web site, their information is protected both online and off-line.
When our order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just "surfing".
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, has restricted access at Lightspeed and at Rock Outdoors. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, order clerk, sales representative, or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Access to the information is made via a password-protected site. Each time an employee needs to access information, they must enter their password to gain access to the information. Furthermore, employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Employees are periodically notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our customers' information is protected.
Third-Party Websites
This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party websites, products or services, even if they are accessible through our Websites or Services. The linking to a third-party website, service or application is subject to the terms and conditions of such website, service or application.
Children
Our Websites and Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect or store any Personal Data about persons under the age of 16. If we learn that we have collected Personal Data of a child under 16, we will take steps to delete such information from our files as soon as practicable. We do not sell Personal Data of children under the age of 16.
